Vierlune – The Moonlit Sanctuary "When the sky weeps, we drink. When the stone sings, we answer. When the moon gazes down, we remember that even gods can fall—and from their fall, harmony blooms." – Lysera Thal, Voice of the Chorus
The Cradle of Halka’s Tears Copy link
Vierlune is the greatest of the Ezhani’s Underworld cities, a sanctuary carved into the vast crater where Halka, Lesser Deity of Water, fell during the War of Severed Threads. At its heart lies Lake Nazena, a moonlit expanse said to be formed of Halka’s divine tears. Its waters glow faintly silver-blue, shimmering with resonance whenever the moon passes overhead. The lake is both lifeblood and altar: its flow sustains the Uldenshar Riverways, while its surface reflects the fractured grace of Ezhan’s people.
The city itself is grown more than built. Stone terraces climb the crater walls in concentric crescents, planted with hanging gardens and threaded with crystalline veins that hum in response to song. Bridges of woven vine and silver-thread arc over canals that draw from the lake, while bioluminescent fungi and song-crystals provide soft, ever-changing light. At the very top of the city is The Lunar Eye, a perfectly circular aperture in the cavern roof through which the night sky peers, turning Vierlune into a place where heaven and earth touch.

The Chorus of Renewal Copy link
The beating heart of Vierlune is its grand ritual, the Chorus of Renewal. Every lunar cycle, the city gathers in the amphitheaters along Lake Nazena’s edge. Choirs of Ezhani weave harmony into the Yellow Thread itself, ensuring the waters remain pure and the Auralynne continues to flow. The resonance rises through the lake and into the Uldenshar Riverways, carrying songs that can sometimes be heard faintly in distant lands. It is said that when the Chorus falters, storms break upon the plains above and tremors rattle the caverns, as if the world itself mourns.
The ceremony is not simply spiritual—it is survival. Without the Chorus, the balance of the river would collapse, and both the Ezhani and Corvians beyond would wither. Thus, the Chorus binds not only voices but generations; every Ezhani is expected to add their resonance to the song at least once in their life, so their spirit is woven into the eternal melody.

The Moon-Amphitheater – The largest gathering place of the Ezhani, carved into the crater wall itself. It faces both Lake Nazena and the Lunar Eye above, so that every song sung here ascends both upward to Ezhan and downward into the water. Its acoustics carry whispers like thunder, and even a single voice can stir the whole cavern to resonance.
The Celestial Gardens – Hanging terraces suspended over the lake, where glowing blossoms respond to song by blooming or dimming. These gardens serve as both sanctuaries and places of courtship, their petals storing memories of those who sang within them.
The Rivergate of Harmony – The point where Nazena’s waters spill into the Uldenshar currents. Here, an intricate lattice of crystal spires resonates constantly, shaping and purifying the flow. Navigators chart their journeys by the Rivergate’s sound, a steady thrum said to echo Halka’s heartbeat.
The Hall of Silent Waters – A temple where voices are forbidden. Here, water alone speaks, echoing through carefully carved channels that produce shifting tones. It is a place of meditation, reflection, and humility before the divine fall that birthed the Ezhani’s home.
The Spirit of the City Copy link
To outsiders, Vierlune feels like stepping into a dream. Light ripples across the water like living music, air hums faintly with resonance, and every sound—footsteps, whispers, even a sigh—seems amplified by the cavern’s song. To the Ezhani, however, it is less a dream than a duty. Vierlune is sacred, yes, but it is also a reminder: that harmony must be maintained, that grief must be carried, and that from sorrow must come survival.
Here, life is ritual. Families live in crescent dwellings clustered along the terraces, their songs harmonizing daily with the crystal-veins that lace their homes. Children are taught to sing before they speak, to read resonance in stone before words. Elders retire into the Echo-Hollows, chambers where their final breaths are sung into crystals, ensuring their voices never fade.
Vierlune in the Balance of Rhuna Copy link
If Makara is memory and Elthrular is navigation, Vierlune is faith. It is the reminder that even divine wounds can give rise to wonder, that the tears of gods can become rivers of life. The city’s song carries far beyond its cavern walls—flowing into the Auralynne, into Corvia’s fields, into Rhuna itself. For this reason, Vierlune is not only the Ezhani’s sanctuary but their gift to the world: a moonlit promise that harmony, once born, can never fully die.
