The Gahlian’s Crown of Dominion Copy link

Before Candemir bore its name, Gahlians had settled the meeting of steam vents, tundra, and fire forest in the Halderin. They worked with the heat, cold, and water of that borderland. When the Duranine arrived, they refined those workings and built around the existing settlement with their Gahlian partners. From that shared undertaking grew Candemir, the joint city of both peoples. To the Gahlians, Candemir is not simply a city of stone and song. It is the crown of their people, the first place where the Mothers’ legacy was given form. Rising from the southern plains like fire born into stone, Candemir is the embodiment of Gahl’s gift—flame and water united, conquest tempered by endurance. The Duranine may call it their anvil, their jewel of craft, but to the Gahlians it is the Forge Eternal, where their dual natures were proven to the world as destiny rather than accident.

When a Gahlian looks upon Candemir, they do not see architecture. They see victory—the flame of Dalo etched into its towers, the tide of Cora braided into its channels, and the Mothers’ horns carved at the gates to proclaim that this is the home of a people meant not only to survive, but to rule.

Candemir rose at the site where the first Red and Blue Gahlians nearly destroyed each other. The Dalo demanded fire and dominion; the Cora demanded endurance and flow. The conflict might have splintered their bloodline forever—until they proved strong enough to shape a city together. The Duranine offered their tools and stone, but the vision was Gahlian: a city that would not only endure but proclaim to every horizon that the Gahlians were chosen, unbreakable, eternal.

Thus Candemir became the Fountain of Legacy, where every spire was raised to mark triumph, every canal carved to show endurance, every flame kept burning to remind Rhuna that the Gahlians cannot be extinguished.

The Fire Bastions — The pride of the Red Gahlians, these towers blaze with braziers that have never been extinguished since the city’s founding. Here, the Dawnbringers keep their vigils, fanatics and visionaries who believe Candemir’s flame will one day ignite all of Erevath. The Bastions are both barracks and shrine, where every stone carries sigils of victory and oath.

The Water Channels — To the Blue Gahlians, Candemir’s channels are proof of endurance, not concession. They are the lifeblood of the city, flowing from the sacred Castellar Pools, each ripple a reminder that adaptation is triumph in disguise. Reflection courts and endurance trials are held here, where warriors prove their patience and pilgrims bathe in waters believed to carry Cora’s breath.

The Horns of the Mothers — Perhaps the most revered landmark to the Gahlians, these colossal antler-arches stand at Candemir’s eastern gate. To pass beneath them is to step into the Mothers’ shadow, a ritual every child remembers. Weddings, oaths, and even executions are performed under their carved gaze. They remind the people that Candemir was not built by accident, but by inheritance.

The Hall of Convergence — Though built with Duranine precision, the Gahlians see this chamber as the true heart of their destiny. Flame and water refract into living rainbows across Luniel pillars, a reminder that they are not fractured tribes but one people, tempered and chosen. Here, leaders meet beneath the suspended relief of the Mothers’ horns, the great oath-bound dais where history itself bends toward their will.

To the Red Gahlians, Candemir is eternal proof that conquest must be carved into permanence. To the Blue Gahlians, it is the fountain that nourishes survival through unity. To both, it is the city that silences doubt—proof that theirs is a bloodline forged in fire and water, chosen to shape the world.

Where the Duranine see Candemir as a workshop, the Gahlians see it as a throne. Every tower is a monument to victories past and triumphs yet to come. The Gahlians believe that as long as Candemir endures, their people will never fade.

Life in Candemir moves with ceremony. The Festival of the Eternal Flame renews the Bastions’ braziers, carried by processions of warriors who march beneath the Mothers’ horns. The Ceremony of Endurance fills the Pools with new waters from distant rivers, proving that adaptability feeds legacy. And at each equinox, the Hall of Convergence is filled with both flame and mist, as Gahlians declare their vows for the coming year.

These rituals are not mere custom. They are living proof of destiny. To miss one is to risk dishonor; to break one is to fracture legacy.

For the Gahlians, Candemir is not the Duranine’s jewel. It is their inheritance, their crown, their proof that fire and water, once divided, now shape the same destiny. When outsiders walk its streets, they may marvel at its craftsmanship—but Gahlians see something greater.

They see the horns of the Mothers rising above the city, unbroken. They hear the flame’s roar and the water’s song, joined into one. They feel the weight of legacy pressing against every stone, every oath, every triumph carved into its walls.

Candemir is not just a city. It is the voice of the Gahlians etched into stone, the eternal testament that they are destined not merely to endure, but to rule.
