Vahlia – The Living Capital of the Ereth Copy link
"The forest does not end at its roots—it rises, it spirals, it gathers. Vahlia is the heart of Erendor, where the land itself remembers." – Izel N’Tharun, Grand Rootseer of the Rhunera
First Impressions – Arrival at the Living City Copy link
To approach Vahlia is to enter a place where wilderness and civilization are indistinguishable. Visitors first glimpse skyward bridges of vine and bark, swaying like woven ribbons across canopies taller than most spires of stone. The air is thick with the scent of flowering moss, spiced bark, and rain-soaked earth. Strange birds—plumage threaded with faint luminescence—call from the treetops, while slow-moving beast-shapes prowl just out of sight.
Unlike mortal cities, there are no walls, no gates, no guards in rigid formation. Instead, the forest itself serves as sentinel. Roots rise in curling arches that part when Ereth wardens give command. River-canals guide incoming craft silently beneath arching branches. Even the animals of the outskirts, bonded through ritual to the Ereth, act as watchful guardians—owls whose eyes glimmer with green-thread light, or panthers whose shadows seem longer than their bodies.
To visitors, the greatest impression is not awe alone but disorientation: Vahlia feels alive. Floors pulse faintly underfoot, vines contract and loosen to form pathways, and fungi brighten or dim in response to movement. The city seems to watch.

The Root-Courts and Canopy Districts Copy link
Vahlia is built vertically, its districts spiraling from root to canopy. Each layer has its own rhythm, yet all are interwoven like the strata of a single living organism.
• The Root-Courts – At the forest floor, colossal roots form naturally vaulted halls. Here, Rootseers and Thornweavers arbitrate disputes, their words carried by the slow hum of Thread-fed fungi glowing along the walls. Pools of mirrored water record proceedings, their surfaces shimmering with faint echoes of past judgments.
• The River-Basins – Where the twin rivers Khaali and Emra meet beneath the city, wide terraces of moss stone act as both harbor and market. Beasts drink alongside merchants, while Ereth traders offer living crafts: vine-woven cloth, Thread-fruit, or spores bottled for healing and vision.
• The Canopy Districts – Suspended walkways, vine-lifts, and bridges link vast canopy courts where families dwell. Homes are hollowed within living trunks or coaxed from bark and leaf, glowing softly with bioluminescence. Visitors find it dizzying, for ceilings seem to sway in rhythm with the wind, and the horizon is always glimpsed through shifting leaflight.
In every layer, the Ereth leave spaces deliberately wild: predator nests, unfelled groves, hollow dens where beasts roam freely. To outsiders, it feels perilous. To the Ereth, it is essential—the city must never outgrow the wilderness.
The Grove of Gathering – Seat of the Council of Erevath Copy link
At the city’s heart lies the Grove of Gathering, where the Council of Erevath convenes. Unlike mortal thrones or marble chambers, the Council sits in a circle carved by time itself.
A ring of ancient root-pillars, thick as towers, encircles a natural amphitheater. At its center rises the Balance Stone, a weathered obelisk streaked with living moss and etched with shifting runes that rewrite themselves according to the balance of the world. Around it, twelve great seats are formed not of crafted wood or stone, but of roots that rise to shape themselves anew whenever council is called. No seat is higher than the others; no throne dominates.
When the Council gathers, the Grove awakens. The pillars emit faint vibrations like the heartbeat of the forest, the stone glows faintly with green-gold light, and vines overhead weave into a living canopy that mutes all outside noise. Even the air seems to still, heavy with a silence that demands reverence. To mortals, it feels as though the land itself is listening.
It is said that during moments of greatest crisis, the Balance Stone will pulse with threads of every color, binding the words spoken here directly into the Weave of Rhuna. The Ereth act only as stewards of this sacred site—the Grove chooses its own witnesses.
The Threads Woven Through the City Copy link
Visitors cannot help but notice that Threads visibly course through Vahlia. Green veins of energy crawl along roots, blue shimmer ripples across rivers, violet bursts hum in gardens heavy with bloom. The Ereth do not hide this—they encourage it, cultivate it, and weave it into daily life. Markets are lit not by flame but by glowing spore-clouds that respond to song. Amphitheaters hum with resonance as Thornweavers sing cycles of history into the air. Even rest is sacred, with homes cradled in root-capsule hammocks that pulse faintly with the sleeper’s heartbeat.
For outsiders, this is unnerving: a place where nature is not background but sovereign. To the Ereth, it is simple truth. A city is not built apart from the wild but grown as its voice.
The Visitor’s Experience Copy link
For those who arrive at Vahlia, wonder is always paired with humility. To step into the capital of the Ereth is to realize one is not in a city at all but in the very pulse of Erendor’s wild heart. Every wall breathes, every hall hums, and every silence feels deliberate, as though the forest waits for you to learn its language.
And at its center, in the Grove of Gathering, one truth becomes undeniable: this is not a throne of mortals, but a parliament of the planet itself. The Ereth are only its wardens; the land is the true sovereign.
