The Web of the Nameless – Where the Zhe Dwell Copy link

No Homeland, Only a Pulse Copy link

Unlike the Irenuk, the Zhe cannot be mapped. They do not raise banners over valleys or guard passes in the hills. They exist in strands of life that coil through Rhuna’s very skin: insect-hives, cliffside drake-aeries, titan dens, and fungal gullets. To speak of their “homeland” is misleading—the Zhe’s home is not a place, but a pattern.

This pattern has been called the Nameless Web by Corvian cartographers, though the Zhe themselves leave no word for it. It is not a kingdom, but a pulse, a vast network of lairs, nests, and dens scattered across both overworld and underworld. What connects them is not geography, but the simple truth of instinct.

The Underworld Bonds Copy link

In the deep earth, the Hive-Zhe and Burrow-Zhe weave their lives into warrens and tunnels. The Dread-Hives sprawl like labyrinths of resin, vibrating with constant motion. Ulmarix burrows stretch beneath the Frostlands and even into Meridian foothills, a hidden artery of soil and tremor. These underground spaces are not cities but ecosystems, where Zhe survival is inseparable from the insect tide and beetle migration.

The Overworld Bonds Copy link

Above, the Nightfang-Zhe ride the abyssal winds, their drakes nesting in cliff-faces that rise above clouds. The Maw-Zhe drift inside the slow-moving Titan-Maws that cross tundras, forests, and wastes. Both sky and surface are claimed not by conquest, but by sharing the instincts of their hosts. Wherever a drake circles or a Maw feeds, the Zhe are there, shadows hidden within the beast.

The Living Circuit Copy link

Though these domains seem unconnected, there is a rhythm that links them. The hives pulse beneath the land, the burrows tunnel upward into cliffs, the cliffs spill into skies where drakes soar, and drakes often circle Titan-Maws lumbering across plains. The result is a living circuit of the Zhe, a migration path older than mortal memory. To outsiders, it is invisible. To the Zhe, it is home.

This circuit is not static. It shifts with seasons, collapses when hives die, reforms when Titans carve new routes. It cannot be drawn on a map because it changes faster than maps can be written. The Irenuk believe the Zhe move in a silent spiral, one that circles the whole of Erevath, invisible except in scent, scar, and song of instinct.

The Breath of the Wild Copy link

Some say the Zhe are the “breathing” of Rhuna itself—inhale in the hives, exhale in the drakes, pause in the Maws. In this sense, their homeland is the Wild itself, both under and over, a pulse of survival that threads through the skin and bones of the planet.
