Erendor – The Rooted Heart of the Wild Copy link

Origins in Ere’s Breath Copy link

Erendor lies on Erevath’s western coast, immediately north of Meridia. Vahlia and Rhunera belong to this western homeland. Erendor is the homeland of the Ereth, born from the will of Ere, Astral of Nature, whose breath stirs in every root, river, and grove. When the Nuhlrin answered the Balance Call during the Settling, the Ereth were drawn to this place where forest and river converged in symphony. Here, they bound their essence to the land itself, shaping not through conquest but by coaxing the world to reveal its own designs. Erendor is not a nation carved from wilderness—it is wilderness that has allowed itself to be tended.

The Land and Its Biomes Copy link

Erendor stretches from the river-fed jungles in the south to the highland groves and crystal-fed forests in the north. The land is dense with ancient worldtrees, fertile valleys, luminous fungi glades, and beast-guarded hollows. Rainfall is abundant, fed by the convergence of mountain streams from Duranel and ocean winds sweeping inland.

• Western Shores: Settlements like Varune and Tarnmel cluster along the coast, where mangroves and tide-forests blend with saltwater estuaries.

• Central Highlands: The heart of Ereth culture, home to Vahlia and the School of Rhunera, where canopy and stone interweave.

• Eastern Wild Border: Here the Witherlands press close, and the Ereth’s Rootwardens stand sentinel. These are contested places where the Threads often fray.

• Northern Reach: Mountain valleys like Kadessa and Falbruk connect Erendor to Duranel, with whom the Ereth share deep, if cautious, trade of stone, ore, and Thread-laced lumber.

Erendor is not divided into rigid borders but into grove-territories, each bound by a worldtree root-end or river junction. These groves act as natural provinces, each overseen by a Rootseer Circle.

Vahlia – Capital of the Wild Sovereigns Copy link

At the heart of Erendor lies Vahlia, a city not built but grown. It rises where ancient roots spiral upward, forming bridges and halls, while canopies intertwine into living domes of light. Glow-fungi bloom along the avenues, and rivers split into channels that carry water through moss-lined streets.

At its center is the Grove of Gathering, a sacred stone circle embraced by root-pillars, where the Council of Erevath meets. The Ereth host this council not as rulers but as keepers of the neutral ground, chosen because the land itself revealed the site through a natural convergence of Threads. Here, no throne stands taller than another; all are equal before the roots.

The School of Rhunera Copy link

The Ereth’s greatest institution, the School of Rhunera, sits upon the moss-laden cliffs of the Twin Rivers of Khaali and Emra. Half academy, half living monastery, it is the gathering place of scholars, weavers, and wild-tenders from across Rhuna.

• Gardeners master flora, cultivating Threaded orchards and living medicines.

• Weavers study Threads themselves, mending sundered strands and stitching frayed anomalies.

• Seekers venture into the wilds, learning the language of beasts, pre-Severance fauna, and Pristara remnants.

The school also serves as a tribunal where ecological disputes between cultures are heard, blending wisdom, law, and compassion.

Society and Structure Copy link

Ereth society is layered like the forest:

• Rootseers – Elders who interpret nature’s harmony and guide spiritual rituals.

• Thornweavers – Educators, diplomats, and cultural binders who shape knowledge into practice.

• Wardens – Guardians of rivers, groves, and beast-paths, defending against Wither or intrusion.

• Sap-Kin – The everyday Ereth: hunters, healers, growers, and artisans who live in symbiosis with the land.

Worth is measured not by wealth but by Footprint—how much life you leave nurtured against how much you consume. To leave the land better than you found it is the highest honor.

Relations with Neighbors Copy link

• Kalthir: Natural allies and kin, the Ereth cultivate the forests while the Kalthir transform them into art and craft. Their relationship is one of mutual respect and interdependence.

• Duranel: A trade partner in stone and ore, though the Ereth remain cautious of Duranel’s more industrial expansions.

• Meridia: A constant source of tension. The Meridians see Erendor as a trove of resources, while the Ereth resist exploitation with unyielding resolve.

• Witherlands: The eternal enemy pressing from the east, where corrupted beasts and sundered Threads gnaw against the Ereth’s vigilant borders.

Erendor’s Role in the Balance Copy link

To outsiders, Erendor may seem idyllic, but the Ereth understand it as a living covenant. They do not rule the wilds; they answer to them. Every city is a grove-temple, every council a listening circle, every law a reflection of natural cycles.

The Ereth see themselves as the world’s gardeners—not to perfect or dominate, but to ensure the cycle of growth, decay, and renewal continues. In their care lies not only the forests of Erendor but the sacred heart of Balance itself, a reminder that without nature’s resilience, even the greatest empires crumble to dust.
