Ores & Stone Copy link

Rhuna is a world scarred by cosmic upheaval. The severance of Vel’s chaotic seeds, the shattering of Balance, and the echoes of divine wars have left veins of celestial ruin embedded deep within the planet’s crust. These scars reveal themselves in ores, stones, and minerals unlike any in the mortal realm—each infused with resonance from Order, Balance, or Chaos. Some are divine remnants, others are tainted fragments of Vel’s hunger, and still more are adaptive creations born of the Threads themselves. Together, they shape not only the craft of civilizations, but the very fate of Rhuna.

Universe-Seed Fragments & the Ore-Blooms of Halderin Copy link

When Vel’s heart was broken and his universe-seeds were scattered, fragments of Syrrh-Ka burrowed into the deep places of Rhuna. This paradoxical crystalline metal is unstable, pulsing with latent chaos, and wherever it lies, it warps natural mineral growth into unnatural formations known as Ore-Blooms.

Ore-Blooms spread through the rock like tangled vines, blossoming into metallic flowers with fractal petals and molten veins. Their composition shifts in response to surrounding Threads, giving them color and form that reflects their environment. Entire fields of Ore-Blooms shimmer beneath Halderin, a living reminder of Vel’s corruption of Balance.

Several distinct metals emerge from these blooms. Vesh-Ka, the Black Fractal, is the root metal—chaotic and unstable, rewriting its lattice when exposed to volatile Threads. Tirvalis, or Song-Iron, blooms from Yellow-threaded regions, singing with harmonic resonance when struck. Rhylkaith, a glassy, bismuth-like alloy, shifts color and hardness under the influence of Blue Threads, and is prized for adaptive armor. Velkara, the Wither-Forged iron, grows only where decay festers; it corrodes reality itself, a dangerous favorite of Uthuru warbands. Astralor, or Star-Cast, blossoms golden within Green Thread realms, once forged into radiant armaments by the Vathians before their fall.

Forged Metals of the Great Smiths Copy link

The peoples and divine scions of Rhuna each claim mastery of the forge, their metals shaped not only by physical fire but by cosmic influence. These forged materials carry the weight of philosophy as much as practical craft.

Zaltar Forged Metals — The Sun-Forged Alloys of Zal’s Chosen Copy link

The Zaltar craft their weapons within the Sun-Peaks, where divine flame tempers every strike. Their alloys embody intensity, purity, and the burning light of Order. Pyrelan, a fiery red iron, ignites with each impact. Aurilite, a radiant golden alloy, stores sunlight to unleash in battle. Vaelthar, known as Eclipse-Steel, is forged only during rare eclipses, balancing Order and Chaos in its edge. Sundrakar, the Sun-Rooted metal, is a bronze-gold alloy resilient even to divine lightning, prized for relic armaments.

Karthine Forged Metals — Lunar Nightmetals of Kar’s Balance Copy link

The Karthine temper their forges with moonlight and silence, creating metals that reflect the shifting balance of Order and Chaos. Noctarth, or Moon-Steel, glimmers under moonlight and vanishes into shadow. Ezerith, a mercurial Veil-Iron, changes state under celestial power. Lunvahl, the Void-Touched metal, swallows sound and nullifies magical auras, perfect for assassins. Kathirium, Tide-Steel, channels and redirects energy like the flow of water. They also work Star-ore Seeds, fragments that fall from their sacred star-trees, hammering these into weapons and armor that shimmer with cosmic resonance.

Gahlian Forged Metals — The Merchant-Kings’ Engineered Alloys Copy link

The Gahlians innovate rather than worship in their craft, blending elements to produce alloys optimized for trade, warfare, and commerce. Gahlsteel is their universal steel, durable and traded widely across Rhuna. Arkanite, a lightweight alloy, resists corrosion and powers their airships and trade vessels. Velthric Bronze stores kinetic energy and releases it explosively upon impact. Castellan Alloy bends to alchemical shaping, able to transform into new forms with the right input. Their experiments often turn toward refinement and mass application rather than divine reverence.

Tavakhor Forged Metals — The Warborn Black-Steels of the Deep Forges Copy link

The Tavakhor dig deep into molten veins, dragging metal from the planet’s burning heart. Their craft is brutal and pragmatic, steeped in endurance and violence. Vakthral, the Iron of the Unyielding, is nearly indestructible, used for siegecraft. Skarvalk, a cursed Blood-Steel, grows stronger when fed by blood. Dread-Ore, whispered of in horror, is said to be smelted from the ashes of their fallen, binding soul to steel. Tav’Roht, the Chained Alloy, is carved with runes that force weapon and wielder into a pact of obedience.

Meridian Forged Metals — The Nullifiers’ Voidsteel Copy link

The Meridians, forged from the ruins of fallen Nuhlrin empires, found their strength in resisting divine corruption. Their greatest creation is Voidsteel, drawn from the Nuhlveldt, a metal that nullifies Thread manipulation. Forged into Nullifier Armor, it became the bane of Vathians, countering their gifts. Voidsteel resists not only power but story, leaving no trace of resonance within its cold black surface.

On the Metals of Rhuna Copy link

Each culture’s forge mirrors its soul. The Zaltar metals blaze with divine Order, the Karthine metals temper silence and shadow, the Gahlian metals embody invention and trade, the Tavakhor metals roar with warlike defiance, and the Meridians temper Voidsteel as an answer to Threads themselves.

Yet above and beneath them all lie the Ore-Blooms, Rhuna’s cosmic wounds that continue to spread through Halderin and beyond. With every petal of living ore, Vel’s shadow grows, mutating natural metals into forms that challenge both mortal and divine control. Whether forged into relics of war, tools of commerce, or cursed blades of chaos, the ores of Rhuna bind its fate as surely as the Threads that weave the world.
