THE MORTAL MAKERS Copy link
WHAT ARE NUHLRIN? Copy link
Nuhlrin are the mortal peoples of Rhuna: singular lives born through ordinary lineage rather than reincarnation, manifestation, or divine recurrence. They are not celestial echoes or fragments of broken gods. Their identity is shaped primarily through ancestry, culture, choice, and the consequences of a finite life.
HOW DO NUHLRIN COME INTO BEING? Copy link
The Nuhlrin descend from mortal peoples created by gods and deities on distant planets across distant galaxies, using uncorrupted Threads. They had families, histories, and established lineages long before they answered the Call for Balance. They were not created for that Call. In Rhuna they continue through ordinary biological generations. Their ancestry does not bind them to an eternal cosmic role; each generation builds, changes, teaches, and passes its experience forward.
WHAT MAKES THEM DIFFERENT? Copy link
Nuhlrin possess no recurring divine cycle to restore them after death. Their lives are finite, their choices are irreversible, and whatever survives them must be carried by other people, institutions, stories, traditions, works, and descendants.
That mortality gives unusual weight to inheritance and legacy.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY DIE? Copy link
A Nuhlrin life ends.
What remains is what they leave behind: family, memory, structures, knowledge, trauma, love, institutions, art, stories, and consequences. Their continuity is cultural and biological rather than metaphysical.
HOW DO THEY RELATE TO THE THREADS? Copy link
Nuhlrin live within the same Thread-shaped world as every other people, but they are not defined by reincarnating fragments or manifested cosmic patterns. Their relationship with the Threads is expressed through mortal bodies, cultures, practices, affinities, and the ways they act upon the world during a single life.
LIVING AS A NUHLRIN Copy link
Nuhlrin civilization is built around the knowledge that nothing lasts automatically. Cities must be maintained. Knowledge must be taught. Relationships must be renewed. Traditions must be carried forward or allowed to end.
Their shared question is:
If nothing about them is guaranteed to endure, what will they choose to leave behind?
DURANINE Copy link
THE ARCHITECTS OF ENDURING FORM Copy link
The Duranine were shaped by Durane, Astral of Honor, and developed a deep cultural relationship with construction, craft, engineering, preservation, and civic form.
They became builders of structures meant to outlast the people who made them, and their alliance with the Gahlians helped shape some of Rhuna’s greatest cities, fortifications, roads, and public works.
Their central struggle is whether preserving what works can become resistance to necessary change.
ERETH Copy link
THE STEWARDS OF THE LIVING WORLD Copy link
The Ereth were shaped by Ere, Astral of Nature, and built their cultures around active relationship with living systems.
They tend forests, rivers, grasslands, migrations, watersheds, and other ecological networks with the understanding that stewardship is not the same thing as leaving nature untouched.
Their central struggle is deciding when intervention protects the greater cycle—and when stewardship becomes control.
IMARI Copy link
THE PAINTERS OF PERCEPTION Copy link
The Imari were shaped by Imar, Astral of Compassion, and developed traditions centered on illusion, expression, empathy, interpretation, and shifting perspective.
They understand that perception can comfort, reveal, conceal, inspire, protect, and manipulate without physically changing the world itself.
Their central struggle is knowing when helping someone see differently becomes deciding what they are allowed to see.
CORVIANS Copy link
THE MERCHANTS OF LEVERAGE Copy link
The Corvians were shaped by Corvi, Astral of Trade, and built their influence through exchange, access, contracts, negotiation, movement, and systems of value.
Their Houses learned that armies, governments, cities, and communities all depend upon the movement of goods, information, resources, and trust.
Their central struggle is remembering that not everything valuable should become something that can be priced.
MERIDIANS Copy link
THE PEOPLE WHO CHOSE THEMSELVES Copy link
The Meridians emerged without an Astral patron defining their purpose.
From collapse, displacement, and failed powers, they built identity through mortal institutions, shared law, engineering, defense, memory, and collective responsibility rather than divine inheritance.
Their central struggle is determining how much structure protects freedom before structure begins to rule it.
MORTALITY AND LEGACY Copy link
Unlike Astralkin or Vathians, Nuhlrin continue through ordinary biological lineage.
They inherit flesh, family, habits, memory, trauma, love, culture, and consequence rather than recurring cosmic roles. Their bodies are mortal, their lives finite, and their choices irreversible.
That vulnerability gives their lives weight.
They build because buildings can fall.
They love because people can leave.
They remember because memory can disappear.
And they create legacies because they will not remain forever.
