WHAT ARE ASTRALKIN? Copy link

Astralkin are beings whose existence begins through cosmic or metaphysical forces rather than ordinary mortal ancestry. Some emerge through divine purpose, celestial fire, Balance, or reflection; others, like the Veloth, arise as consequences of forces that were never meant to create life at all. What unites them is that their existence is manifested rather than inherited through bloodline.

HOW DO ASTRALKIN COME INTO BEING? Copy link

Astralkin manifest differently according to their nature. Zaltar and Karthine may begin as unrealized consciousness within Astravae and take physical form through their divine traditions; Rhunai awaken through Rhuna itself. Veloth are the unintended exception: life formed within Astravae consumed by Vel escaped from his blackened heart. Their beginnings are related manifestations, not one uniform act of creation.

WHAT MAKES THEM DIFFERENT? Copy link

An Astralkin body is real, living, and capable of change, but its deepest continuity lies in the pattern, force, or meaning that produced it. Their forms often carry visible evidence of that origin, whether through celestial fire, living stone, reflected moonlight, or the unstable remnants of shadow and Thread.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY DIE? Copy link

Astralkin do not normally continue through ordinary reproduction. When one dies or dissolves, that individual is gone, but the conditions capable of producing another may eventually return. A future manifestation is therefore not the same person reborn, even when it emerges from the same cosmic pattern.

HOW DO THEY RELATE TO THE THREADS? Copy link

Astralkin are deeply entangled with the forces that shape Rhuna, but they are not simply embodiments of individual Threads. Their relationship with the Threads depends upon their Origin, manifestation, and the cosmic forces involved in their creation.

LIVING AS AN ASTRALKIN Copy link

Most people understand that Astralkin are unusual, long-lived, and closely tied to powers larger than mortal bloodlines, but the exact nature of their manifestation is not universally understood. Even among Astralkin, philosophy often matters more than certainty.

Their shared struggle is the burden of beginning life already connected to something larger than themselves:

Were they made to fulfill a purpose, or can they decide what that purpose becomes?

ZALTAR Copy link

FIREBEARERS OF ORDER Copy link

The Zaltar are manifestations of Zal’s Order, formed from divine story, purpose, and celestial alignment. Their bodies resemble mortal flesh, but their true continuity lies in meaning rather than biology.

They tend to experience emotion with distance, studying it before fully understanding it as something personal. Their legacy does not pass through children, but through recurring patterns. If a Zaltar dissolves, similar cosmic conditions may someday allow that symbolic pattern to emerge again.

Their central struggle is the difference between embodying Order and simply obeying it.

RHUNAI Copy link

KEEPERS OF BALANCE Copy link

The Rhunai are manifestations of cosmic equilibrium, emerging when Balance itself requires a presence capable of restoring or protecting it.

They often understand emotion first through function: sorrow, anger, joy, and intimacy are forces that alter relationships and influence equilibrium. Over time, a Rhunai may come to understand those feelings as something personally meaningful rather than merely useful.

Rhunai do not reproduce physically. When one ceases, another may emerge only if Balance again creates the need.

Their central question is whether Balance means restoring what once existed—or allowing something new to take its place.

SHADOWS THAT CHOSE TO REMAIN Copy link

The Veloth are an unintended exception to deliberate Astralkin Materialization. As Vel consumed the Planes and compressed their power into the Seed-Stones, he also swallowed portions of Astravae, the Primordial Life-Web. Life formed chaotically within that consumption and erupted from his blackened heart in the deep chasms of Rhuna. This emergence was not an act of deliberate creation; whether Vel rejected that life or it broke free of him remains uncertain.

They are not Veldraken and are not instruments of Vel’s hunger. They are consequences of his presence: living shadows, ink-like beings, and unfinished identities that must define themselves without a creator-given purpose.

Their emotional lives vary widely. Velmir interpret emotion through reflection, Velnari experience it with overwhelming intensity, and Velshakar restrain it through discipline.

Veloth do not reproduce and are not intentionally reborn. Another may appear only if similar metaphysical conditions form again.

Their defining struggle is selfhood without destiny.

KARTHINE Copy link

MIRRORS OF THE MOON Copy link

The Karthine are manifestations of Kar, the Lesser Deity of Reflection. They receive the emotions of others, hold them, and reflect them back with chosen intent.

They do not experience emotion in quite the same way mortals do. Joy, grief, desire, and fear often enter them through another person before becoming something they must interpret for themselves.

Karthine normally continue through manifestation rather than reproduction, but they possess one rare exception. Through prolonged empathic connection, mutual desire, and the correct lunar alignment, a Karthine and mortal may conceive a Moonbound, also called an Empath-Weft.

Their central question is whether reflecting the feelings of others eventually makes those feelings their own.
