The Taming of Erendor — 1. The Call of Balance

1. The Call of Balance Copy link

“When the roots of the world cried out, one heard.”

Before Erendor. Before Vahlia. Before Rhunera.

Sylraven stood beneath the living canopies of Ere’s world when the pulse of Rhun reached across the Weave—a cry not of pain, but of imbalance.

Where others heard only wind, Sylraven heard a world calling.

Their eyes ignited with the ember-light of awakening, and the beasts of the wild gathered in silence.

This was the first call.

And Sylraven answered.

The Taming of Erendor — 2. The Communion with Ere

2. The Communion with Ere Copy link

“To walk another world, one must first be unmade by their own.”

Sylraven knelt before Ere, Astral of Nature, whose form was neither beast nor tree nor god—but all at once.

Ere revealed the fracture in Rhuna’s wild heart: a world fertile, but unguarded. Living, but unstable.

No conqueror could answer this.

Only a steward.

Only one who understood the law of growth, hunger, death, and renewal.

Sylraven accepted.

And the pact was bound.

The Taming of Erendor — 3. The Threefold Becoming

3. The Threefold Becoming Copy link

“To judge life, one must become all its faces.”

To prepare for Rhuna, Sylraven underwent the Threefold Binding.

They mastered:

Flora — the memory of roots, healing, and endless growth. Fauna — instinct, predation, migration, and fear. Mortal — consequence, structure, choice, and restraint.

Through this rite, Sylraven became the first true vessel of Nature’s Law.

Not merely Ereth.

But the first Rhunera in spirit.

The Taming of Erendor — 4. The Hollow Wind Crossing

4. The Hollow Wind Crossing

“Nine cycles through the breath between worlds.”

Guided by Ere’s Root-Song, Sylraven stepped into the Hollow Wind—the living current between worlds.

It was not a road.

It was memory.

A Thread-path woven through living possibility.

For nine cycles they walked between realms, carrying no weapon, only the Song.

This became the first mortal crossing into Rhuna.

And no path like it has ever opened the same again.

The Taming of Erendor — 5. The First Rootfall

5. The First Rootfall Copy link

“The world knew them before they touched it.”

Sylraven emerged into Rhuna in the deep untamed wilds.

The land was raw: worldroots uncoiled through the sky, storms bled color through the trees, beasts existed only half-formed between Thread and flesh.

Yet Rhuna recognized Sylraven.

The roots rose around them like old kin.

And the wild did not strike.

It listened.

The Taming of Erendor — 6. The Forest Stillness

6. The Forest Stillness Copy link

“For seven days, the world held its breath.”

Sylraven knelt in silence.

Seven days. Seven nights.

Listening.

To root-memory. To river-song. To the breath of predators. To the grief of unfinished life.

On the seventh day, Sylraven sang.

The Root-Song.

Predators ceased their hunt. Storms unraveled. Rivers calmed.

And wild Thread harmonized.

This place became known as Kha’Vahl.

The First Quiet.

The Taming of Erendor — 7. The Rootbound Crossing

7. The Rootbound Crossing Copy link

“Not warriors. Stewards.”

Sylraven returned to Ere’s world and called their people.

Not for conquest.

For tending.

Thousands answered.

They crossed the Hollow Wind carrying:

seed-memory stones, living beasts, root archives, and ancestral songs.

This became the First Great Migration.

The beginning of the Ereth upon Rhuna.

The Taming of Erendor — 8. The Founding of Erendor

8. The Founding of Erendor Copy link

“The land allowed them to remain.”

The Ereth established their first settlements.

No walls. No roads. No kings.

Only living halls shaped by roots, bridges grown from canopies, fungal sanctuaries lit by breath-light, and rivers terraced into harmony.

The land was named:

Erendor.

The Place That Was Allowed.

Here the first law was spoken:

Footprint.

Take only what you can restore.

The Taming of Erendor — 9. The Rise of Vahlia

9. The Rise of Vahlia Copy link

“Where the land gathers, memory becomes law.”

At the place where Sylraven vanished into the roots of Kha’Vahl, twelve ancient worldtrees bent inward.

Over generations their roots spiraled into halls, towers, bridges, and sanctuaries.

The city revealed itself.

Not built.

Grown.

It became:

Vahlia.

The living capital of the Ereth.

At its center, the Grove of Gathering was established, where the land itself listens to the voices of mortals.

No throne stands higher there.

Only Balance.

The Taming of Erendor — 10. The Foundation of Rhunera

10. The Foundation of Rhunera Copy link

“To listen is sacred. To judge is burden.”

As other peoples spread across Rhuna, imbalance followed.

Overharvest. Broken migrations. Withered groves. Fractured treaties.

The Ereth formalized their stewardship.

Sylraven inaugurated Rhunera:

The School of Nature’s Law.

Its three sacred branches were founded:

Shevah — Verdant Wardens, keepers of root and bloom. Tavahnu — Wildbound, guardians of beast and migration. Kharume — Threadkin, arbiters of mortal consequence.

From this moment forward, the Ereth became more than listeners.

They became the judges of life’s balance.

And the law of the wild was given voice.

Long before Erendor became the wild heart of Rhuna, the forests of the western coast, north of Meridia existed untamed.

The Balancing had passed.

The great fractures of Rhun had settled.

But in many places, life remained unfinished.

The wilds grew without rhythm.

Predators hunted without cycle.

Rivers shifted without memory.

The Threads of nature twisted freely, unchecked by stewardship or law.

Across Rhuna, new peoples began to rise.

Some built walls.

Some claimed dominion.

Some shaped the land to fit themselves.

But far beyond Rhuna, upon the world of Ere, another path was being prepared.

There, among endless living canopies and root-cities older than memory, the people who would become the Ereth heard the pulse of Rhun.

Not as a warning.

Not as a command.

But as a song.

Among them, one listened deeper than all others.

Sylraven.

A walker of root-memory, speaker of beasts, and listener to the hidden breath between worlds.

Where others heard only wind, Sylraven heard imbalance.

And answered.

To prepare for the crossing, Sylraven underwent the Threefold Becoming.

They mastered the domains of living law:

Flora, the endless cycle of growth and decay.

Fauna, the rhythm of instinct, hunger, and migration.

Mortal, the burden of consequence, structure, and choice.

Through this rite, Sylraven became the first complete vessel of Nature’s Law.

Not ruler.

Not conqueror.

Steward.

Guided by Ere, the Astral of Nature, Sylraven entered the Hollow Wind—the living current between worlds.

For nine cycles they walked the Weave itself.

And when they emerged upon Rhuna, they entered the deep western wilds above Meridia.

There they found chaos.

Worldroots stretched into the heavens.

Storms of raw Thread fractured the skies.

Beasts existed half-formed between spirit and flesh.

The land lived.

But it did not yet know balance.

Sylraven knelt.

And listened.

For seven days.

On the seventh, they sang.

The Root-Song.

At that song, the wild answered.

Predators ceased their hunt.

Rivers settled.

The storms unraveled.

And the land itself quieted.

That place became known as Kha’Vahl.

The First Quiet.

Sylraven returned to Ere and called their people.

Not to conquer.

To tend.

Thousands answered.

They crossed carrying:

seed-memory stones,

living beasts,

root archives,

and ancestral songs.

Together they entered Rhuna.

Together they settled the western wilds, north of Meridia.

They built no walls.

Raised no roads.

Declared no kings.

Their halls were grown from roots.

Their bridges woven through canopies.

Their sanctuaries carved from living bark, fungus, and riverstone.

The land was named:

Erendor.

The Place That Was Allowed.

There the first law was spoken.

Footprint.

Take only what can be restored.

Leave the wild stronger than it was found.

At the center of Kha’Vahl, where Sylraven vanished into the roots beneath the First Quiet, twelve ancient worldtrees bent inward.

Over generations their roots spiraled into halls, towers, and sanctuaries.

The city revealed itself.

Not built.

Grown.

It became Vahlia.

Where the Land Gathers.

The living capital of the Ereth.

At its heart rose the Grove of Gathering, where no throne stood above another, and where the land itself listened to the voices of mortals.

For a time, the Ereth lived in quiet stewardship.

But as other peoples spread across Rhuna, imbalance followed.

Forests burned.

Rivers were poisoned.

Herds vanished.

The cycles fractured.

Many believed the land would correct itself.

Others knew better.

The wild remembers.

But it does not forgive.

And so the Ereth formalized their sacred stewardship.

They founded Rhunera.

The School of Nature’s Law.

Its three great paths were established:

Shevah — keepers of flora, root-memory, and restoration.

Tavahnu — wardens of beast, instinct, and migration.

Kharume — judges of mortal consequence and civilized balance.

From that day forward, the Ereth became more than listeners.

They became the living judges of nature’s law.

And to this day, every child of Erendor learns the same truth:

The Root-Song calmed the wild.

The Ereth gave it law.
